WES featured on Enjoy Exceptional Living Radio Program

Whiskeytown NRA Superintendent Josh Hoines and SCOE’s Director of Science Nate Fairchild were interviewed by host Lynn Fritz

On May 28, 2020, NPS Park Superintendent Josh Hoines and Shasta County Office of Education’s Director of Science Nate Fairchild were interviewed on Lynn Fritz’s KFOI Exceptional Living Program. You can listen to the entire program.

During the interview Josh Hoines described the current programs at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area and how WES fits into the larger picture of NPS’s mandate to educate the public on environmental and cultural resources. He described the damage to WES from the Carr Fire, the potential hazard posed by debris flows down Paige Boulder Creek that necessitate the moving of several structures, and the planning process to rebuild. Nate discussed SCOE’s the decades-long role in creating programming at WES and the partnership between NPS and SCOE. Nate announced that Domokur Architects was selected to create the preliminary Master Plan this summer for the WES site.
